Home & School Club business

  • Pumpkin Bust wrap up: The event was a big success, everything ran smoothly. The t-shirts were a big hit. We do need new chair persons to coordinate the event next year. Please talk to Katrina Healy and Sandi Geringer if you are interested in learning more and start shadowing.

  • Graystone Grownup Gathering is on Friday February 10, 2012 at the Scottish Rite Center. It will be a crab feed, pasta will also be available for non-seafood people.

    Teachers will donate desserts for the auction.

  • Walk-A-Thon: Home based business committee will be chaired by Jene Biester and Christina Cotton. Look for more information in upcoming E-links.

  • Escrip: Terri Gurahoo has renewed all Safeway cards for Graystone with her team. She thanks Tracie Sosa, Jill Taylor, and Heidi Castro for their hard work. There are now 945 individuals signed up for escrip with their Safeway cards. Great job!

  • The Home & School Club thanks Katrina Healy and Sandi Geringer for a great job co-chairing the Pumpkin Bust this year. It was a huge success! Thank you both!

 

Principal’s report

  • Mrs. Spencer announces that transitional kindergarten is in the works. This only affects children whose birthday is between September 2nd and December 2nd and only the year they start kindergarten. More information was in the E-link:  http://www.sjusd.org/graystone/downloads/elink11042011.pdf

  • Mrs. Spencer asks parents to please fill out the blue questionnaire regarding the California Distinguished School Award (blue ribbon school) to get parent input on what makes Graystone a great school and why Graystone deserves this award. Blue questionnaires are available in the school office and online via the last E-link. Please return the forms or send the email as soon as possible. Page 5 of the E-link listed above.

 

Teacher's report

Liz Marino expresses her thanks on behalf of all the teachers for the wonderful lunch recently, it is highly appreciated!

The school supplies committee is getting started and will get input from teachers as well as parents.

 

Library/Media Center News

  • This Wednesday (November 9) there is monkey bread making from 1:30 to 2:30 pm.

  • Scholastic Book Fair is coming December 5-9. Set up will be on Friday Dec. 2nd. Volunteers are needed for set up, during the book fair, and for clean up. Melissa Powell will look into online ordering from Scholastic as well. Teachers can post a wishlist for their class library so parents can donate some of those books if they wish.
