The Pumpkin Bust is Graystone's version of the old days school fair.  During school hours the kids participate in a costume parade, at night families come out for an old fashioned school fair.  Come dressed in your costumes if you want.  The ever popular Cake Walk features baked goods provided by our Kindergarten and first grade families (or anyone else who wants to donate).  Classic school fair games such as frisbee and football tosses, basketball bowling, toss across, and many more requre only a couple of tickets to play,  Come play a little BINGO in the Bingo room.  One of our most popular booths/games is the coin toss.  Get a coin to land on a plate and win one of the many donated, stuffed animals.

Volunteers are who make the Pumpkin Bust a success and there are many different ways you can help.  Don't worry, you don't have to be a committee chairperson and spend many hours to be a volunteer.  As a matter of fact, most of the volunteer help is easy and only takes an hour of your time while at the Pumpkin Bust.

Parent Volunteer Committee

Chair: Katherine Cance

Co-chair: Stephanie Bullock

As the chair and co-chair of the parent volunteer committee recruit and coordinate the volunteers who run the booths and/or help with set-up and clean-up.  They also coordinate with the Bret Harte and Leland student volunteer committee to make sure that all booths have both parent volunteers and student volunteers throughout the night.  In addition, they recruit teachers and Mrs. Spencer and Ms. Brewer to volunteer at the event.

Parent Volunteer Jobs    VOLUNTEER NOW!

If you are interested in helping out but don't want to be a chair (at least for this year) then volunteer to help run a booth for an hour or to help with set-up or take-down.  There are countless jobs where we need volunteers.  We now have an on-line sign-up (i-volunteer online) to make volunteering easy.  Just click on the link above and then choose Pumpkin Bust 2011 from the drop down menu on the i-volunteer site.  If you are interested in helping out and are having trouble with the i-volunteer site, email our volunteer chairs at pumpkinBustVolunteer@graystonehsc.org.

Run A Booth -- Each game booth needs to be staffed throughout the night.  It is our goal to have each booth manned by at least two parent volunteers and two high school or middle school students throughout the night.  Shifts are for one hour (though you can volunteer for as many shifts as you want).  It is super easy to run a booth and all instructions for how the games work (it really isn't rocket science) will be provided.  Just collect the game tickets, explain the game to the contestant, and stand back and let the kids have fun.  Every contestant is a winner, so everyone gets a prize!

Booths Include:

Game Booths -- Football Frenzy, dime pitch, shark attack, haunted hoops, bean bag toss across, basketball bowling, and many more.

Fun Snacks -- Snacks to munch on throughout the night.  Help sell, cotton candy, nachos, popcorn, chips, water and more.

Bingo -- Be a Bingo caller for an hour

Face Painting/Tattoos -- You don;t hav to be a great artist.  Help paint faces or just oversee those that do.

Hair Scare -- Come to this booth to get your hair made up into a spooky do.  Help with the hair or help keep everything running smoothly.

Cake Walk -- Everyone remembers the cake walk.  Help keep everything organized.  Make sure every participant has a space and then start the music.  When the music stops, pick a letter out of the hat.  Whoever is on that letter gets to pick a cake from the cake table.  Everyone else gets a treat for participating.

Bake Sale -- Our generous second and third grade families have donated cakes, cookies, brownies and so much more four our bake sale.  Help keep everything in order and keep selling those treats!

Dinner Booth -- Help us keep the line moving smoothly.  We need ticket/voucher takers and general helpers.

Book Sale -- All the generous families throughout the school have donated gently used books for our book sale.  This is a great place to come and get some new books for your children for bargain prices.  Volunteer to help us keep the books organized and neat and to help collect ticjets for book purchases.

Key Chains -- Help take the pictures and make the keychains at our Picture Key Chain booth.

Spooky Karaoke -- Help keep the kids in line and ready to sing.  We'll need one adult per hour shift.

Ticket Booth -- For those who forgot to prepurchase tickets or are just having so much fun they need more tickets we will be selling ticket packs throughout the Pumpkin Bust.  Help at this booth so everyone can buy enough tickets to have fun all night long.

Set-up -- Help us get all the booths set up the afternoon of the Pumpkin Bust.  Our chair and co-chair will make sure you have everything you need and will direct everyone.  Bring your muscles or decorating prowess.  We'll be setting up and decorating booth tables and games, dinner tables and serving area, and any other odds and ends to get the Pumpkin Bust ready for action. (Dad's, this is a great place where we could really use your help!)

Clean-up -- After the night is over, we need to get everything broken down and back into the storage sheds.  The more volunteers we have for this, the quicker we can all get home after a fun night.  (Dad's, this is a great place where we could really use your help!)

Pumpkin Bust T-shirts

We’re so excited about this year’s Pumpkin Bust that we’re selling Pumpkin Bust T-shirts.  Short sleeve, black t-shirts with the Pumpkin Bust logo printed on the front.  Children’s and men’s crew neck t-shirts, and women’s crew and v-neck shirts available.  Order yours today!  Orders due by Wednesday, September 28th.

We want to bring your attention to a couple of things when ordering your shirts:

  1. The Youth, Men and Women Crew neck shirts are the same brand and style (Hanes 100% Tagless) that we get during the Walk a thon (These are Unisex sizes).  We have samples in the office if you are not sure of the sizing, please stop by.  (remember the shirts will shrink and the ones you are looking at have already been washed).
  2. As for the Women's V-neck shirts. These shirts are running very small  When the sample arrived, we noticed that this style runs very small. As a result we are now offering the women's v-neck shirts in sizes from Small to 4XL. We have a Med and XL sample in the office for you to see (these are 100% cotton and these shirts have not been washed). If you want to order without looking at the sizes, keep in mind that you may want to order a size or two larger than what you normally wear. On the order forms that were sent home, just cross out and write in what size you want if you are ordering a XXL, 3XL, or 4XL.
  3. All sales are final and will not be exchanged or returned.  Please come to the office to verify what size you will need to order
  4. Please email any questions that you have to pumpkinbust@graystonehsc.org.
Thank you,
The Pumpkin Bust T-shirt Team
